World of WarTanks puts you behind the wheel of an armored tank across missions ranging from solo survival runs to full 5v5 skirmishes. It’s not related to the massive online game with a similar name — this is a lighter, browser-scale take, and it’s better for it: quick matches, straightforward controls, and no downloads.
A dozen tanks are available, each modeled on a real-world design, and while they all start with comparable stats, Spare Parts earned from destroying enemies let you upgrade armor and firepower over time. Missions pay out Stars instead, which unlock new tanks outright — so there are two separate currencies pulling you forward, one for making your current tank stronger and one for expanding the garage.
The 5v5 mode is where it gets genuinely tactical. Positioning and cover matter more than raw firepower once you’re facing coordinated opponents instead of AI, and a tank that’s been upgraded wisely will outlast a barely-touched one even with worse aim behind it.
How to play World of WarTanks
Control your tank with the arrow keys and fire with the spacebar. Complete missions to earn Stars, which unlock new tanks, and destroy enemies to earn Spare Parts, which upgrade the tank you're driving. Use cover and terrain to survive longer in 5v5 battles.
Controls
- Arrow keys Move the tank
- Spacebar Fire
Tips
- Spend Spare Parts on armor before firepower early on — surviving longer earns more of both currencies
- In 5v5 matches, stick near cover; a tank caught in the open dies fast regardless of upgrades
- Run a few solo missions with a new tank before bringing it into 5v5, so its handling isn't a surprise mid-fight
- Prioritize Stars from missions you can finish reliably rather than chasing the hardest one first
