Worms Zone is the slither-style arena game done with a lot more depth than the format usually gets. You’re a worm in a 2D top-down arena, you eat to grow, and if your head touches another worm’s body you’re gone. What keeps people coming back is everything layered on top of that.
Four game modes, for a start. Infinity has no clock, so you can take as long as you want building the longest worm on the board. Time gives you a limited window with double coins. Treasure Hunter sends you looking for hidden chests scattered across the map. And seasonal events rotate in around Christmas, Halloween and Easter with their own rewards.
The potion system is the part most new players ignore and shouldn’t. Power-ups drop in coloured bottles and each does something specific: wider pull radius for food, five times the food value, revealing where other worms died, extra speed, better turning control, or a zoomed-out view of the map. They’re temporary, so collecting them steadily matters more than saving one for a perfect moment.
One mechanic worth knowing before your first round: your worm can loop through its own body. That means curling into yourself is a legitimate defensive move, not a mistake, and it’s the main way you survive a bigger worm hunting you.
How to play Worms Zone
Your worm follows the mouse cursor and moves at a constant pace. Eat food to grow longer, and trap other worms so they collide with your body, then eat the food they drop. Hold the left mouse button to speed up, but this reduces your growth over time. Collect potion bottles for temporary power-ups and coins for permanent upgrades between rounds.
Controls
- Mouse Steer (the worm follows your cursor)
- Left mouse button Speed boost (reduces growth while active)
Tips
- Avoid the centre of the map early, since it's the easiest place to get surrounded
- Collect potions steadily rather than hoarding them; the effects are temporary either way
- Curl through your own body when a bigger worm is chasing you, since your worm can pass through itself
- Don't get overly aggressive going for kills, as chasing another worm is how most players eliminate themselves
- Spend coins from Treasure Hunter runs on permanent upgrades rather than skins first
